Here are the books i keep reading and reading and here are my very own book reviews.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14156030937427098638noreply@blogger.comBlogger6125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6181734398764003620.post-4396200470708904672013-10-31T08:17:00.001-07:002013-10-31T08:18:45.713-07:00Love & Misadventure by Lang Leav<div style="text-align: justify;">
It was on last week of October when <b>Love and Misadventure</b> caught my attention. The book was all over Tumblr and with curiosity, I decided to search for that book. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Realizing that this book is a compilation of love poem that describes every misadventure and real love relationship - I shared this to some of my friends. Reading those short poems from the web, I really felt like buying it. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Thanks to a special someone, I got my own copy of the book last 27th of October, 2013. Now that i'm done reading it, I would say that there's NO regret on having this book. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjviwEIHyMdmPhyphenhyphen8Ncty47AZBNzl47a3nPk3dsDb-6esG_jwTH9FT1X2QmdU9IyO80LWcn8PCfP3B5naQ5PbjGc0tPvZSEFbN3nV5hM56ONuBwrCn5yVpfKayd7d5I5XzMZJ24zxhKicJup/s1600/book.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Love & Misadventure by Lang Leav" border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjviwEIHyMdmPhyphenhyphen8Ncty47AZBNzl47a3nPk3dsDb-6esG_jwTH9FT1X2QmdU9IyO80LWcn8PCfP3B5naQ5PbjGc0tPvZSEFbN3nV5hM56ONuBwrCn5yVpfKayd7d5I5XzMZJ24zxhKicJup/s400/book.jpg" title="" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The poems may be short but it has all the feelings. <b>Lang Leav</b> really did a great job on compiling all love and misadventure on every relationship and life in a single book. I may be having a happy relationship but still, I can relate with what I read. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
If I were to recommend this, I will surely do and rate this book from 9 out of 10. Well, yours truly is really the emotional one. After all, its about love - one of the best topic to talk about. :)</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Some of my favorite from the book:</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Before There Was You - Part 3 Love</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Lost Things - Part 2 The Circus of Sorrrow</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Rogue Planets - Part 2 The Circus of Sorrrow</div>

Rowling Anniversary. It was a new cover but more artistic. It was always been my dream to buy a complete set but the price even before was too expensive. And when the movie has ended, a complete series becomes harder to find.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwntgZW167bvkLug6KLYBy3K4fAuT3VoFln6VwfXWoKNCLA2WBkUFsI0MDET7dnM96ULbKn_E__eq089ezUVQeYGHywRGYRPbbJUE4xoNoViIXm4Dkodt9th1RspWq_sJ-moCmcvRH4TO5/s1600/Harry-Potter-New-Cover.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Harry Potter Complete Book Series" border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwntgZW167bvkLug6KLYBy3K4fAuT3VoFln6VwfXWoKNCLA2WBkUFsI0MDET7dnM96ULbKn_E__eq089ezUVQeYGHywRGYRPbbJUE4xoNoViIXm4Dkodt9th1RspWq_sJ-moCmcvRH4TO5/s400/Harry-Potter-New-Cover.jpg" title="" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
When there was a book sale on National Book Store, I hoped for a discounted set but only found the most expensive set - costs almost P7,000.00. Good this about it? It has its own chest. Which really will be my next target for the next five years. :)<br />
<br />
In the middle of September, I found a complete set of Harry Potter with its newest cover under my table. It was a gift! And I can't believe that someone really have wanted to give me this. I was really thankful. I don't know whether to read the books or keep them as is.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWedJjT0O1LzBjmBA1W3eFwTMgX_QtsmO7YHQ1SXF_tiHuuOEcKxA_pLqgGun98Btyh7lwuHV9wIQrUEbsPS_5AcK8VBeDJYbSl5aEQpPmAwCAgWK1SENiP3aMY0nWCE62bfwP7VPWw57n/s1600/Harry-Potter-New-Set-Complete.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Harry Potter New Book Covers" border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWedJjT0O1LzBjmBA1W3eFwTMgX_QtsmO7YHQ1SXF_tiHuuOEcKxA_pLqgGun98Btyh7lwuHV9wIQrUEbsPS_5AcK8VBeDJYbSl5aEQpPmAwCAgWK1SENiP3aMY0nWCE62bfwP7VPWw57n/s400/Harry-Potter-New-Set-Complete.jpg" title="" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
But one thing is for sure, one out of the seven books on my bucket list has finally arrived on my book shelf. :)<br />
<br />
Thanks to my Santa Claus :) An early Christmas Gift for me.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14156030937427098638noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6181734398764003620.post-27919051702679286802012-06-24T08:54:00.000-07:002012-06-24T08:54:38.522-07:00An Excerpt from the Book T.I.B.O.K<div style="text-align: justify;">T.I.B.O.K (Heartbeat of the Filipino Lesbian) is a compilation of lesbian stories shared by some Filipinas made possible to become a book through Anna Leah Sarabia. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYMEamx3L8DR1LuFREZ7jFP6pKUzR0WDtFzzJL4JRzXhOSlJRO15O5N8gPlIXoJUJJ44TOvAKrdnwO9M4cIiCg5VoLZD5cPgLTe_3K2DFPn4etV0ov3C5XHHkViinOuA3A7lO1dnWPrCow/s1600/2012-06-24+20.08.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img alt="Anna Leah Sarabia, lebigay book, lesbian, lesbian story, lgbt book, T.I.B.O.K, tibok" border="0" height="269" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYMEamx3L8DR1LuFREZ7jFP6pKUzR0WDtFzzJL4JRzXhOSlJRO15O5N8gPlIXoJUJJ44TOvAKrdnwO9M4cIiCg5VoLZD5cPgLTe_3K2DFPn4etV0ov3C5XHHkViinOuA3A7lO1dnWPrCow/s320/2012-06-24+20.08.jpg" title="" width="320" /></a></div>When I saw the book, I was really mesmerized and really wanted to buy it myself, the only problem I had that time was that, the book looks old and too expensive on the way it looks. I searched the web for the nearest bookstore in my hometown to see if there's another copy of this book in good condition. Sadly, the book I found in NBS was the only one. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">While I was holding T.I.B.O.K., I was having a second thought, but realizing that it might be the last and final copy, I followed my urge to buy it. Now that I have done reading the book, I found out that being a Lesbian in the Philippines is really hard. Somehow, other culture may accept us, but not by our own countrymen. We are bound to follow the roots of where we came from. We must be who we are by the religion we are embracing.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">With this book in my hand, I am really happy to find out that some have understanding family to accept and love them, no matter what. To still say, "this is my daughter, she's not a boy but she has a girlfriend and I am proud of her.". Another thing, I found it quite possible that gay marriage can really be done, and the relationship really last.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Something that caught my attention from the book was the letter entitled "Happy Birthday" written by Ging Misa. Here are some of the contents:</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><blockquote class="tr_bq">"<i>So, what am I trying to tell you? I want to thank you for accepting and understanding me, especially during those times I wasn't very accepting of myself. Thank you for the unsolicited advice you gave me, time and time again, to help me strengthen my relationship with Mina.</i></blockquote><blockquote class="tr_bq"><i>I know that even once, you had questioned my sexual preference and maybe I will never know how you've managed to understand how I can love someone so strongly that I defy norms imposed by society. Mama, how did you do it? I guess the answer is simple - it's because you love me.</i>" </blockquote><br />
I really envy Ging for having such wonderful mother. I envy her for she was accepted for who she was. I envy her for she had came out as soon as she can because her mother's on her side. And most of all, I envy her for she knew who she was and accepted what she was despite of this very controversial and unaccepting country. <br />
<br />
Another part of her letter was:<br />
<br />
<blockquote class="tr_bq"><i>PS.</i></blockquote><blockquote class="tr_bq"><i>"Ma, you know how most people would say "many more birthdays to come"? Well I wish that for you, too. I addition to that, I want to wish for many more mothers (and fathers as well) like you who accept and try to help their daughters accepts themselves as lesbian." </i></blockquote> As I've read the letter, I didn't realized I was crying, so soft that I myself didn't even noticed the tears falling on my cheek. She was lucky, she really are. And I am happy for her, for them<br />
<br />
There are plenty of good and fulfilling stories on the book but this one is my favorite. How I wished I could write a letter like this. <br />
<br />
I love myself, I have nothing to prove in this post. I am just giving my view about the book, about our society and about who I am. And still hoping that someday, Filipinos can open their hearts and accept this fast changing reality so we can all just move on, and moreover become a success.<br />
<br />
We can never achieve our future plans when we're still holding on our past. Sometimes, letting go is better than holding on - specially when it has reached its END. </div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14156030937427098638noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6181734398764003620.post-17886494438943578082012-06-17T07:18:00.000-07:002013-09-19T08:07:36.036-07:00Books on my Bucket ListSince I got my second job, I promised to myself that I will give my self the privilege or I'd rather say, the reward of buying me a book. Either for a month or every cut-off. And now, I've been craving for some books I really wanted my bookshelf to have.<br />
<br />
What ended me with this? Some online bookstore! Haha. Gosh, if I am lucrative enough, I might have stolen those books. Anyways, here are some books included on my bucket list (hope to have them till this year ends) :<br />
<br />
* The Lover's Dictionary by David Levithan<br />
Price: PHP 585.00<br />
My view: I loved the book because of its cover, plus I am really curious about the definition of real love, though I think I already knew it.<br />
<br />
* Between Mom and Jo by Julie Anne Peters<br />
Price: I forgot<br />
My view: I was holding this book a little while and fighting with the urge of buying it, now I regret it. Choosing between your parents, who would you choose?<br />
<br />
* Define "Normal" by Julie Anne Peters<br />
Price: PHP 315.00<br />
My view: From the title itself, it really is confusing. In this fast changing world, how can we really define "normal"? Tricky!<br />
<br />
* Why we broke up by Daniel Handler<br />
Price: PHP 489.00<br />
My view: The book cover was good! And i don't know, the book caught my attention.<br />
<br />
* Rage: A Love Story<br />
Price: PHP 350.00<br />
My view: A felt a strong urge of buying it. I don't know WHY.<br />
<br />
* Seriously... I'm Kidding by Ellen DeGeneres<br />
Price: PHP 585.00<br />
My view: I have a feeling that this one is amazing and funny as well.<br />
<br />
* <a href="http://igothookedonbooks.blogspot.com/2013/09/harry-potter-complete-series-new-cover.html">Harry Potter Complete Set</a><br />
Price: 2,975.00<br />
My view: It was my DREAM. Gosh I will buy this, I swear! :)<br />
<br />
There, at last i finished it. For now, these are the books that I really want to own. Hope to have them all. :)Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14156030937427098638noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6181734398764003620.post-87188246176742320722012-05-20T02:13:00.000-07:002012-05-20T02:13:09.819-07:00Its all about GARFIELD<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvdkaId_P3ePv8g5yULd2PlVSyAeZi9Tw_WomeHJRqfOF8nctCx0hdLCoPaMPM9Hlaf5LtADb_GgUnWuzoJTU5-1gFSqp7fHNdR3djm7hm0n2K_C0a5X0TWB51jJ0X78_HQwWiuJ9b7twp/s1600/4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Garfield" border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvdkaId_P3ePv8g5yULd2PlVSyAeZi9Tw_WomeHJRqfOF8nctCx0hdLCoPaMPM9Hlaf5LtADb_GgUnWuzoJTU5-1gFSqp7fHNdR3djm7hm0n2K_C0a5X0TWB51jJ0X78_HQwWiuJ9b7twp/s200/4.jpg" title="Garfield and Me" width="182" /></a></div>
<div style="color: #ea9999; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><i><b>Garfield and yours truly. :) </b></i></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
First thing's first. I am madly in love with Garfield. Since when? Uhmm 3rd grade I think! Long enough before I realize that all I wanted in my room aside by books is this fat orange tabby cat.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Ask me why I love him when he is lazy, bad, fat and always annoy Odie? Well, I really don't know. Garfield is cute. Perfect. We both love lasagna, sleeping and well, doing nothing. :) My dream has always been to have any thing that he has a picture of.</div>
<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br /><br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
There, some of my Garfield collectibles. But its not all of them. I also got shirts. :) Anyway, the first comic book og Garfield I bought was "Garfield Swallow His Pride", it was the 14th edition of Jim Davis' comics. (Anf 14 was my favorite number before). I bought it when I was on grade school or high school. I can't barely remember. It cost only P50.00 because it was a second hand comic book. Though I had it covered in plastic and took care of it like a precious gem stone. When I visit the Fully Booked store, this one cost about P500.00 or more :)</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnZU5ET1l1NOSK8vNH28IglOb4QaECrkNuZ-LtfxyY28HMCe018-teJAHCCxLSKDbgQV4M-lHUdQtVvBya_ntIpFnVmJuRwl5hh-VwzhAp8kG0omWZ1fyRdzgs50AV0ayR9-NSojpmkXKw/s1600/2011-08-20+10.59.08.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Garfield, Comic Books" border="0" height="305" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnZU5ET1l1NOSK8vNH28IglOb4QaECrkNuZ-LtfxyY28HMCe018-teJAHCCxLSKDbgQV4M-lHUdQtVvBya_ntIpFnVmJuRwl5hh-VwzhAp8kG0omWZ1fyRdzgs50AV0ayR9-NSojpmkXKw/s400/2011-08-20+10.59.08.jpg" title="My Garfield Collection" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Second was "Garfield's Big Book of Excellent Excuses". I bought it on BookSale when I was looking for a good book. I scanned the bookshelf and found it. Without thinking, I took my money and went to the cashier. Poof! The book was mine. The excuses are lame but very funny. If I'd use them, people might hit me. Haha.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Lastly was "Garfield get Cookin". Another book from BookSale! I was having a second thought of buying this one. Why? because it was not that neat. As if it had gone from a water dispenser. But because of Garfield Rush I decided to buy it anyway. It was one of the best Garfield Comic I ever had. And when I saw it on Fully Booked? Wow! Four time the price! </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
As of now, I can really say that I am lucky to have these books on cheap prices. I can't afford to buy them when the price is P500.oo+. I might swallow my excuses as well. But whenever I feel the urge of buying them, specially when I know that these comics are really rare, I will always find a way to have them. Anything for Garfield. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Now, isn't Garfield too adorable for me not to notice it? </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<br />Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14156030937427098638noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6181734398764003620.post-24945198137047532322012-05-19T07:24:00.000-07:002012-05-19T07:24:08.753-07:00Me and the Books<div style="text-align: justify;">
Books? These are my best friends. Always been there for me whenever I'm alone, always have the answer to my questions, always there to help me endure the pain and most of all to help me understand things.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I love books, i really do. But I'd rather stay on a bookstore than to stay in a library. I don't know why. Anyway, whenever i am in a bookstore, you'll get annoyed on how long I would stay on that very precious place and buy nothing with me. Ooops! That was before, when i was just a student, now that I've a got a job, i swear to myself that each payday, I'll buy a book. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
What things do I usually consider in buying a book? Listed below:</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<ul style="text-align: justify;">
<li><b>Price.</b> I ain't that rich young adult that you'll see in a coffee shop with a cup of coffee on her left hand and a good book on her right hand. :) Whenever I'll buy a book, I'll wait for a bookstore to go on sale. They still have the best books though. I'll scan every book and see the price. P200 and up - I'm not buying it. Unless....</li>
<li><b>Title. </b>I get mesmerized with the title. Really, the title of a book can really be deceiving but it is a priority of mine. It is as if instantly, by reading the title, i know what a book is all about. Or...</li>
<li><b>Back Cover Summary. </b>Important too!! I won't buy a book if the back cover summary doesn't fit the title. And this summary can really catch my attention when it is really interesting on my part. And...</li>
<li><b>Cover Photo. </b>Of course this one is also on the list. Sometimes, by looking at the cover photo, with no regards on the title and back summary, in an instant that i liked it, i'll buy that book but it depends on the price. :)</li>
<li><b>Author. </b>Okay, i'm not really into authors, but when i read a book from that author and I knew it was good, another book from him/her is worth buying.</li>
<li><b>Topic. </b>Haha. Almost forgotten. Not all books are interesting. Some are nothing to me. And topic is important. More often, I am into romance novel and Garfield comic series. :)</li>
</ul>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
There. What do you consider when buying a book? Think I have forgotten something? Tell me now! :)</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Here are some of my books photos: </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
